Patricia Ann Smidt, 83
Funeral services for Patricia Ann Smidt, 83, of Pauline, Nebraska, formerly of Ozark County, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at First United Methodist Church in Hastings, Nebraska, with Rev. Lance Clay, Pastor Michelle Loeffelholz and Pastor Leah Krotz officiating. Burial will be at Hanover Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery in Glenvil, Nebraska.
Patricia died June 17, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born July 6, 1939, in Almartha, to Orbrey and Eska (James) Shindler. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1957 and received her degree to become a registered nurse from Burge School of Nursing in Springfield in August 1960. Patricia married Larry Smidt on Sept. 7, 1962, in Almartha.
She was a registered nurse and worked for Mary Lanning Healthcare for over 40 years. She was a member of Pauline United Methodist Church and Quilters Guild. Patricia enjoyed spending her time quilting, volunteering, caring for others, camping and attending her grandkids’ activities.
Survivors include her husband Larry Smidt of the family home in Pauline, Nebraska; her daughters and their spouses: Susan and Kenneth Landers of Gainesville, Carol and Joe Keiser of Gothenburg, Nebraska, and Marcia and Chad Pitt of Logan, Iowa; her grandchildren and their spouses/significant others: Sarah and John Donley, Rebecca Prock and Justin Watkins, Ethan and Lynzi Prock, Emily Keiser, Heath Keiser, Helene Keiser, Daltyn Pitt and Malynn Pitt; step-grandchildren: Andrew Landers and wife Nelly and Alan Landers and wife Courtney; great-granddaughters: Addie Donley and Chloe Watkins; sister Earlene Roberts and husband Billy; sister-in-law Nadine Markle and husband Bob; many nieces and nephews and foreign exchange daughters: Steinunn Thorisdottir and Jenni Schumacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Shindler; two granddaughters, Caedi and Madaline Prock; and parents-in-law, Theodore and Margaret Smidt.
Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website.
