Michael Robert Sorensen, 75

Michael Robert Sorensen, 75, of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, died May 24, 2023, in Branson. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

He was  born May 13, 1948, the son of John and Rosalie (Robbins) Sorensen in Chicago, Illinois. Mike married Judith Ann Zriny on May 22, 1989.

Possessing a gregarious soul, Mike loved to talk to people, be goofy, express sarcasm and showcase a weirdly unique sense of humor. These personality quirks made him many dear friends as he and Judy traveled throughout the United States. Mike enjoyed playing cards, horseracing, Chicago sports teams (especially the Cubs), driving Judy to and from work, arranging get-togethers with family and friends and being an avid bike rider. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. The memories created over the years with Mike will be treasured forever.

Mike and his family spent August of every year of his childhood visiting Grandpa TJ Robbins on his farm in Howards Ridge along with other relatives. He was the one who often stayed in air-conditioned-comfort with his Aunt Nova while the rest of the family tent camped down by the river.

Mike is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judy Sorensen of Elk Grove Village, Illinois; daughter, Kristin Sorensen of Raleigh, North Carolina; son, Keith Sorensen and wife Jen of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; grandchildren: Kaarina Sorensen-Jarrett and Tommy Sorensen; brother, Jim Sorensen and wife Mindy of Des Plaines, Illinois; sister, Robin Hargesheimer and husband Jim of Des Plaines, Illinois; cousins: Bob Benning, Bill Cook, Cathy Cook, Kerry Robbins, Mark House, Reggie House and David Stapp. Mike also was “the fun uncle” to Callie, Ryan, Brett, Dane, and Kelsey.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to the Howards Ridge Cemetery, in care of TJ Lewis, 1283 Highway J, Gainesville, MO 65655. The family would also be appreciative of donations to any cause near and dear to that person’s heart.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
