Darcy May DeWaard, 7

A celebration of life for Darcy May DeWaard, 7, of Ozark, was held Aug. 6, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Ozark.

She died July 30, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Darcy was born on Nov. 21, 2017, in Branson, to Joshua James DeWaard and Ashley May Reich-DeWaard. She was raised in Ozark and attended Tiger Paw Preschool and Ozark South Elementary, where she was a bright and loving student preparing to enter second grade.

Though her time here was brief, Darcy left a lasting imprint on the hearts of everyone who knew her. She loved coloring vibrant pictures, watching YouTube videos—especially the funny ones—and doing anything she could to help her little brother, Scotty. Whether she was handing him toys, picking out clothes for him or simply being by his side, Darcy’s selflessness and big heart always shone through.

Darcy will be forever remembered for her sweet spirit, infectious giggle and unwavering love for those around her. She was often described as creative, kind, nurturing and wise beyond her years. Her joyful energy lit up every room, and her memory will continue to bring light to all who were blessed to know her. Her giving nature lives on in those she touched with the donation of her tissues and heart.

Darcy is survived by her loving parents, Joshua and Ashley DeWaard; her beloved little brother, Scotty; her grandparents, Tracy and Ron DeWaard, and Von and Stephanie Reich; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, teachers and friends who cherished her deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Darcy’s memory to Ozark South PTA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center in Ozark, Missouri.
