Cheryl Lynne Reecher, 78

 

Cheryl Lynne Reecher, 78, of Ava, died Oct. 11, 2024, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield with her family by her side. The family will host a celebration of her life at a later date

Cheryl was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Los Angeles, California to Clyde and Clara  (Baldwin) Toler.

She grew up in Walnut, California. She graduated from high school and continued her education. Cheryl raised her children in Beaumont, California area. 

She married Leon Reecher on June 23 in the 1980s in Beaumont, California. They were blessed with over 20 years of marriage. She and Leon raised and trained animals for the Bill Rivers Movieland Animals. When they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, she became a licensed dog groomer. They then moved to Florence, Oregon, which is where she retired. They loved living in Oregon, and Leon died there. She moved to the Ava community from Florence three years ago to be near her daughter Evelyn for care. 

Cheryl loved life and loved working with animals. She had a pet Parrot named “Magic,” and he talks just like her. Cheryl enjoyed working puzzles and going on sightseeing trips with family. She was a delight to be around and kept you entertained. She was a member of Eagles, VFW Auxiliary, and Moose Lodge. Cheryl led an active full life until her health declined. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children: Evelyn and Jesus Arellano, and Daniel La Fon; her grandchildren: Eugene Penland, Lynne Corley, Katherine Eve Kaufman and Danielle La Fon; several great-grandchildren; family members: Gordon and Joyce Watson, Janet and Donnie Brazeal and Sam Gower; and many friends.  

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leon Reecher. 

Cremation services for Cheryl are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
