Alice P. Collins, 97

A graveside service for Alice P. Collins, 97, of Republic, was held April 15, 2024, at Ball Cemetery in Dora with Pastors David Shipley and Jim Gerhold officiating.
She died surrounded by her loving family on April 11. She was born in Dora, on Jan. 30, 1927, to Jack and Esta (Ballinger) Dobbs. She was the eldest of two children in the home.
She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) with a master’s plus degree in education. She taught for over 35 years in Dora, Richland and finally in Arnold, Missouri, where she retired.
She married Hollis Collins on Nov. 29, 1946, and they were blessed with three children: Stanley, Anna and Michael. Alice and Hollis loved to travel and have been to all 48 of the lower states.
Alice loved to read, and she continued this love even after her sight failed her, averaging 33 audio books a month. She was very tech savvy even into her 90s. She was a member of Marionville Assembly of God for many years and would still listen to Wednesday and Sunday’s services on her iPad.
She is survived by her son Stanley Collins and wife Janet; daughter Anna Cobb; grandson Doug Collins; four great-grandchildren Makayla Wells, Baxter Collins, Mahala Jarvis and Henry Jarvis; as well as other extended family and friends.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hollis, son Michael Collins, grandson Greg Collins her brother Otto Hoover Dobbs and son-in-law James Cobb.
