County accepts bid, sets date for others, adopts resolution

Ozark County Western District Commissioner Layne Nance, Eastern District Commissioner Jim Britt and Presiding Commissioner Terry Newton.

Ozark County Commissioners took care of necessary bid notices during the regular weekly meeting Monday morning.

Western District Commissioner Layne Nance and Eastern District Commissioner Jim Britt unanimously accepted the bid from Coastal Energy Corporation for road oil for the Road & Bridge department. Presiding Commissioner Terry Newton was absent.

The commissioners also set Monday, May 11, as the date to accept bids for fuel for the county and Ozark County Sheriff’s Department; hot and cold mix, road chips and base rock for the Road & Bridge department; and propane for the county. The bids will be opened at 9 a.m. during the commissioners’ meeting.

A resolution for the county to implement the Missouri Blue Shield program was adopted during the meeting. The Blue Shield designation was announced by Governor Mike Kehoe in 2025. Government entities that adopt the resolution recognize their “commitment to enhancing public safety, strengthening support for law enforcement and building sustainable public safety partnerships.” The designation will allow the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department to apply for state grants for law enforcement equipment and training.

The commissioners conducted the first reading for the closure of a portion of County Road 170. The second reading is scheduled for a date in July.

The commissioners also announced that the courthouse and other government offices will be closed Friday, May 8, in observance of Truman’s birthday.

The Ozark County Commissioners meet at 9 a.m. each Monday morning in the upstairs meeting room of the Ozark County Courthouse. Everyone is invited to attend. For more information, call the Ozark County Commission office at 417-679-4096.
