Cole named superintendent, Johnston named principal at Lutie School District

Kathalee Cole has been appointed as superintendent and high school principal for the Lutie school district for the upcoming 2023-24 school year.

Cole began her career at Lutie in 2017 as the agriculture education teacher and moved into the role of high school principal in the 2021-22 school year.
She has 16 years of experience in the public education system. She says her leadership style is relationship-driven, and she believes in working together with the staff and parents for the greater good of Lutie students. Cole replaces Scot Young, who served as Lutie superintendent for 12 years.

Longtime Lutie educator Brenda Johnston has been promoted to elementary school principal for the upcoming year.

“I have worked at Lutie R-VI for my entire 29 years in education and am proud to step into the position of Lutie’s elementary principal. I started my career in education here in 1994,” Johnson told the Times.

She graduated from William Woods University in 2010 with a K-8 certification in administration.
“During my time at Lutie, I have taught, at some point, in all of the elementary classrooms and loved it. I look forward to moving up into this new position and helping to oversee the advancements of our students’ education and preparing them for their future.”
