Gainesville beats Bradleyville, 92-50

The Gainesville Bulldogs started this week off with a 92-50 victory over Bradleyville Monday night, a welcome win after varsity losses to Chadwick and Bakersfield last week. GHS Coach Morris Jenkins said that while the outcomes from the games last week weren’t what they had hoped, he’s confident in his players’ ability to be a very competitive group.

Four players scored in double digits Grant Leeker led with 30, followed by Dawson Hewett with 21, Owen Donley with 20 and  Kolby Anderson with 12. The win brings the Bulldogs’ season record to 2-2.

Last week, the Bulldogs were on the road where they lost to Chadwick, 66-62, on Dec. 2 and Bakersfield, 75-66, (see story at right) on Dec. 4. “Seemed to be a game where our opponent did a good job of executing and getting shots they wanted,” Coach Jenkins said of the game at Chadwick. “We needed to do a better job of adjusting to how they were getting shots and take them out of their strengths. We did battle back to take the lead a couple times in the second half but had a couple of crucial turnovers that kept us from extending the lead.”

Dawson Hewett led the scoring with 24 points, followed by Grant Leeker with 17.

Gainesville’s JV lost their game to Chadwick by just 1 point, falling 46-45. Chase Luna and Keegan Crouse led the scoring with 11 each, followed by Haden Evans with 7 and Marvin Curtis with 6. Others scoring were Keaton Dabney 4, Corbin West 3, Daigan Hawkins 2 and Keaton Hand 1.

Gainesville is hosting Ava Friday, Dec. 12 for Homecoming and will also be playing at home on Tuesday, Dec. 16 when they host Hollister.
