Dora girls 4x800 relay team takes spot on state podium with 7th place finish

The Dora Lady Falcons’ 4x800-meter relay team capped off a memorable 2026 season with an all-state performance Saturday, May 23, earning seventh place at the MSHSAA Class 1 State Track and Field Championships at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City.

Team members Haley Perkins, Montgomery Mitchell, Isabelle Martin and Kinley Luna entered the state meet ranked 12th but had their sights set on a top-eight finish, which would secure a spot on the podium and all-state honors.

The Lady Falcons exceeded those expectations, turning in a personal-record performance and finishing seventh in the state with a time of 10 minutes 35.31 seconds. Their strong showing earned them a coveted place on the awards podium and capped months of hard work, determination and steady improvement throughout the season.

The relay team saved one of its best races for the biggest stage, outperforming its pre-meet ranking and proving it could compete with the state’s top Class 1 programs.

Their podium finish highlighted another successful chapter for Dora track and field, with the Lady Falcons continuing to make their mark against elite competition. The all-state performance served as a fitting reward for a season defined by dedication, teamwork and perseverance.
