Meth found during two search warrants executed in one year
Shane William Cook, a 52-year-old Theodosia man, is facing additional felony charges after law enforcement officers executed the second search warrant at his residence within one year and allegedly discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, firearms and stolen property.
According to a probable cause statement prepared by Lt. Matt Rhoades of the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, deputies executed a search warrant at approximately 9 p.m. on May 1, 2026, at the residence of Shane Cook. Neither Cook nor his girlfriend, who also resides at the home, were present when officers arrived, the report says.
During the search, investigators reportedly located a hard-sided plastic case in the kitchen containing two used glass methamphetamine pipes. Officers also recovered a plastic baggie and two folded pieces of paper containing large chunks of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The total weight of the suspected methamphetamine was 6.68 grams.
In a bedroom, deputies found a black powder rifle that appeared to be in working condition, along with multiple calibers of ammunition, pistol magazines and additional firearm parts. Investigators also recovered two street signs that had previously been reported stolen. According to the report, Cook allegedly told authorities he had used the signposts for a personal project.
Rhoades noted in the report that Cook is a convicted felon with a documented history of narcotics use, including prior admissions made during an earlier search warrant executed at the same residence less than a year earlier. The May 2026 operation marked the second search warrant served at the property within the past year.
The new allegations follow a separate investigation conducted on June 5, 2025, when the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team, assisted by Howell County SWAT, the U.S. Marshals Service, Operation Relentless Pursuit Task Force and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, executed arrest and search warrants at the residence.
Authorities said the warrants were obtained after an anonymous tip alleged that Cook was harboring a fugitive with an active felony warrant and that illegal firearms and controlled substances were present at the home.
According to the probable cause statement, Cook admitted during an interview that firearms were located throughout his bedroom, including next to his bed, in drawers and inside filing cabinets. He also acknowledged that methamphetamine was present in the kitchen and that methamphetamine pipes were stored in a filing cabinet in the bedroom.
The report states Cook initially claimed the firearms belonged to family members but later admitted purchasing one of the weapons himself. As a convicted felon, Cook is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Cook also reportedly told investigators the methamphetamine found at the residence was for personal use and said he was attempting to quit using the drug.
Authorities said the anonymous tipster indicated a fugitive had been living at the property for approximately two years. While Cook ultimately assisted law enforcement in persuading the man to surrender peacefully, investigators alleged he had knowingly harbored the fugitive before the operation.
During the June 2025 search, officers recovered 10 firearms, approximately 3.6 grams of methamphetamine, a bag and straw containing methamphetamine residue, 168 grams of liquid methamphetamine in a glass bong, four methamphetamine pipes and a magnetic container that tested positive for methamphetamine residue.
As a result of that investigation, Cook was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a felony-level controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, hindering the prosecution of a felony and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Associate Judge Raymond Gross granted Cook pretrial release on his own recognizance on June 1, subject to supervision by Court Probationary Services. Court records indicate that a non-compliance report was filed last week and a warrant was issued.
