Lions win 2nd in Mansfield Tourney

The Bakersfield boys’ basketball team captured second place in the Mansfield Tournament this past week and Lion standout Ethan Cotter scored his 1,000th point when he netted 27 against Liberty.

Bakersfield beat Liberty 71-68 in tournament action and lost to an undefeated Mansfield team 81-58. Cotter and Morris Collins were named to the All-Tournament team.

Bakersfield coach James Denton said his young team is now 3-2 on the year. The Lions were scheduled to play at Gainesville on Tuesday (12/13) and at Weaubleau Saturday vs Skyline.

“We had a great week and competed very well in the tournament,” Denton said. “I’m proud of our guys and the direction we are headed.”
