Bakersfield Lions rack up two wins in three games, record now 5-2

The Bakersfield Lions baseball team picked up two wins in three games recently, defeating Seymour and Winona while falling to Mansfield, bringing their record to 5-2 so far this season.

Bakersfield opened the week Tuesday, Sept. 8 with a 14-3 victory over Seymour. Paxton Cotter earned the win on the mound.

The Lions’ offense was led by Eli Cotter, who collected three hits and drove in four runs. Ty Cotter added three hits and three RBIs, while Seth Montague also had three hits and three RBIs. Alex Helm and Traityn Lovins each contributed two hits.

At Saturday’s Bakersfest tournament, Bakersfield suffered a 13-4 loss to Mansfield. Ty Cotter led the Lions with two hits, while Ruhystn Lovins and Cruz Murphy each recorded one hit.

The Lions bounced back Monday, Sept. 14 with a dominant 15-1 victory over Winona. Ty Cotter paced the offense with three hits, including a three-run home run. Seth Montague, Alex Helm and Cruz Murphy each added two hits in the win.

Bakersfield’s two victories showcased a strong offensive attack, with the Lions combining timely hitting and solid pitching to earn the wins.

The Lions hosted Van Buren Tuesday, Sept. 15. Results of that game were unavailable at press time.

Bakersfield’s schedule continues at home with Eminence on Sept. 17, Sparta on Sept. 18, and Dora on Sept. 22.
