Bakersfield

The Bakersfield Lions baseball team, coached by Brandon Cotter, moved their season record to 5-4 after a win and a loss last week. 

One Thursday, Sept. 25, the Lions hosted Hartville (9-5) and defeated the Eagles 14-3. The next night, the Lions hosted the Gainesville Bulldogs and lost 17-2.

The Lions will hosted the Dora Falcons (0-9) Tuesday, Sept. 30. Results of that game were unavailable at presstime. Bakersfield hosts Alton Thursday, Oct. 2. Games start at 4:30 p.m.

 

Gainesville

The Gainesville Bulldogs varsity baseball team, coached by Blake Hobbs, season record stands at 10-5 after last week’s loss to Licking and a win over Bakersfield, followed by Monday night’s home-field loss against Fordland.

The Bulldogs traveled to Licking (14-3) on Thursday, Sept. 25 and lost to the Wildcats 3-0. Friday evening, the Bulldogs made the short trip to Bakersfield and beat the Lions 17-2.

In Monday night’s home game, Gainesville lost to Fordland 9-4. 

The Bulldogs hosted the Alton Comets (10-5) Tuesday, Sept. 30, but results of that game were unavailable at presstime.

 

Summit Conference Tournament

The Gainesville Bulldogs (10-5) are seeded in the number two spot behind Hartville who currently holds a 9-6 record. 

The following Summit Conference games are being held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6:

(1) Hartville vs (8) Seymour at Hartville

(4) Sparta vs (5) Conway at Sparta

Winners of these two games will play each other at Hartville at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7.

(2) Gainesville vs (7) Norwood at Gainesville

(3) Fordland vs (6) Mansfield at Fordland

Winners of these two games will play each other at Hartville at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The championship game will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 at Hartville High School.
