Wendel Eugene Tabor, 79

 

Wendel Eugene Tabor, 79, of Theodosia, died July 13, 2021, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield with his family by his side. At his request, no services are planned.

He was born Oct. 31, 1941, in Ocie, the son of Arthur and Alta Hart Taber. In 1960, he married Betty Rhoads. He served in the Air Force from April 1959 to September 1963. After his honorable discharge, he went to work for Colgate-Palmolive in Kansas City, Kansas, as a machinist. He worked there until 1977, when he moved his family back to Theodosia. He worked as a carpenter until 1986 when he became a contract mail carrier, retiring in 2004. In 2006 he built his family home, where they currently live.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and just working on anything he could build with his own hands.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Tabor of the home; two sons, Randy Tabor of Shawnee, Kansas, and Roger Tabor of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Brandon Tabor and wife Sheril of Laramie, Wyoming, and Aaron Tabor of Fort Riley, Kansas; one great-granddaughter, Everly Mae Tabor; two brothers, Carl Tabor and wife Earleen of Elkland, and Kendel Tabor and wife Mary Ann of Theodosia; nine nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Lynn Tabor; his parents; one sister, Thana Craig; and one brother, Bill Tabor.
