Sherrion “Slim” Slavings, 74

 

Memorial services for Sherrion “Slim” Slavings, 74, of Howards Ridge will be held at a later date at Howards Ridge Cemetery. 

Slim died March 20, 2024, at his home. He was born April 8, 1949, in Hayti, Missouri, the son of James and Rosetta Slavings. 

He received his GED June 14, 1991. He was an Army Veteran and a retired truck driver. He loved the outdoors, hunting, watching westerns and spending time with his family. He loved his beloved dog Sherman.

On May 28, 1994, he married Diane Crawford. The couple lived in Kentucky before moving to Missouri. 

He is survived by his wife Diane Slavings; daughters: Melissa Hartig (Joe) of Cold Spring, Kentucky, Mary Wilhoite (Ryan) of Owenton, Kentucky, Deborah Roland of Oakridge, Tennessee, Shannon Lankford (Shawn) of Frankfort, Kentucky, Christy Gayle (Walter) of Owenton, Kentucky, Shaun Simpson (Greg) of Howards Ridge, and Stephanie Murray (Jason) of West Plains; sons: Matthew Greenlee (Meagan) of Owenton, Kentucky, Mark Greenlee (Renee) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jerry Lankford of Monterey, Kentucky; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers: Carl Slavings (Debbie) and Steve Slavings of Caulfield, and Robert Slavings (Gina) of Mountain Grove; sister Linda Evans of Caulfield; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his father James Slavings, mother Rosetta Slavings, brothers James (Whistle) Slavings and Alvin Slavings, brother-in-law Clifton Evans, and sister-in-law Karen Slavings. 

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Genesis Whole Body Donation Foundation.
