Ronald Edward Capetty, 90

Funeral services for Ronald Edward Capetty, 90, of Theodosia, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the St. Williams Catholic Church in Gainesville following full military honors in the church vestibule. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to service time. 

Ron died July 22, 2023, at his residence. He was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph Thomas and Marie Nicasia (Farina) Capetty.

Ron graduated from high school and spent two years in college before entering the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Ron began a long career at Conlon Collins Ford working as an auto mechanic. He also volunteered for 13 years as a paramedic where he earned the distinguished honor of being named the nation’s “Citizen of the Year”. 

Ron resided in Chicago, Illinois, Streamwood, Illinois and Lake in the Hills, Illinois before moving to Theodosia in 1994.

On Sept. 10, 1955, Ron married Maureen Duszak. The couple have spent a wonderful 68 years together. He was the best husband, father and grandfather. He always put others first and never wanted to be in the spotlight. 

Ron loved golfing. He and Maureen enjoyed many adventures traveling in their motor home. They especially loved visiting the National Parks and camping. They have visited all 50 states. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. 

Ron is survived by his wife, Maureen Capetty of the family home in Theodosia; four daughters: Gail Hamilton and spouse Jack, Karen Grosso and spouse Victor, Janet Capetty, Cristie Stanek and spouse David; grandchildren Joe Callahan and spouse Lynda, John Callahan and spouse Jennifer, Jeanna Callahan, Nick, Kylie, Alyssa and Colton Stanek, Heather Krueger and spouse John and Scott Hamilton.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Marie Capetty; his mother and father in-law Florence and Edward Duszak; one sister, Marlene Moser and her husband John.
