Rhubein Elmer Belcher, 78

 

A celebration of life for Rhubein Elmer Belcher, 78, of Caulfield, was held June 24, 2025, at Free Union Church.

Mr. Belcher died at 12:49 p.m. June 21, at his home.

He was born Nov. 5, 1946, in Howell County, to Lee Belcher and Ruby Driver McCarty. 

Mr. Belcher was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during Vietnam. He retired from MoDOT where he was a shed foreman. On Dec. 24, 1970, he married Carla Lynch in Thayer. 

He was a great outdoorsman and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Belcher moved to Granby, Colorado, where he managed the Lawson Ranch for nine and a half years. While in Colorado, he gave wagon rides, sleigh rides, wedding carriage rides and guided hunting trips. He also worked for CDOT. 

Mr. Belcher returned to his homestead in Moody, where he became a sheep herder for 13 years and enjoyed taking care of his farm. Mr. Belcher was the president of the Free Union Cemetery Board, was one of the founding members of the Moody Fire Department and was a board member of the Moody Community Building. To know Rhubein was to love him.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Belcher of the family home; one daughter, Brandi Evans of Mountain View; two grandsons: Brady Evans and Jesse Evans, both of the family farm; one brother, Walter Belcher West Plains; two sisters: Vivian Price of Springfield and Vera Thomas of West Plains; three sisters-in-law: Paula DeLacqueseaux, Deanna Sparkman and Donna Haarstad; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law, Joseph (Joey) Doria, one sister-in-law and several brothers-in-law.
