Otis McFarlin, 73

Funeral services for Otis Ray McFarlin, 73, were held June 5, 2023, in the Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Officiating was Pastor Buddy Boyd.
Otis died May 30, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 7, 1949, in Ava, to Robert Clinton and Phyllis Joyce (Keeton) McFarlin.
Otis was a 1967 graduate of Ava High School. On September 2, 1972, Otis married Sheila Degase at Ava, and together were blessed with two children: Tracy and Marianne.
Otis and Sheila lived in the Wasola area for several years. Otis owned and operated his mechanic shop in Ava called Mac’s Garage for many years. He enjoyed visiting with people and adored his grandchildren. Sometimes he could be ornery, and he loved to tell stories. He recently was led to the Lord and saved.
He is survived by his wife Sheila; son Tracy McFarlin; daughter Marianne Stout; three grandchildren: Caleb McFarlin, Chandler Stout and Kymberly Clements; 10 great-granddaughters: Kaidon, Zoey, Elena, Kynley, Evelyn, Alice, Penelope, Kinsley, Jayden and Annie; brothers Robert D. McFarlin, Clint McFarlin, Richard McFarlin, Ronald McFarlin, Francis McFarlin, Phillip McFarlin, Larry McFarlin and Terry McFarlin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Kenny Stout; his sister, Arlene Goforth and two brothers, Roger and Randy.
