Mathew Ned Stone, 90

Graveside funeral services for Mathew Ned Stone, 90, formerly of Ozark County, were held April 22, 2023, in the Thornfield Cemetery. Pastor Allen Maggard officiated, and military honors were conducted by Troy Herd American Legion Post 112 and a U.S. Army detail.

He died April 17, at Ozark Riverview Manor in Ozark. Mathew was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Longrun to Samuel and Nora (Jones) Stone. 

Mathew was a Christian and a member of the Bruner Baptist Church.   

Mathew was an Army Veteran and served during the Korean War.

On Nov. 2, 1951, Mathew married Artilla Silvey in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Together they had three daughters, Jennine, Tuila and Sheila.

Mathew enjoyed raising bees and hunting with his Brittany bird dogs.  He loved his family and friends. 

Mathew is survived by his three daughters and their spouses: Jeannine Spurlock of Ava, Tuila and Alan Rumold, of Topeka, Kansas, and Sheila and Rick Spurlock of Ozark; six grandchildren: Regina Hampton, Raymond Billings, Tamera Billings, Charles Spurlock, Crystal Mayfield, and Sarah Spurlock-Paterson; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Mathew was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Artilla; grandson, Jared Spurlock; brother, Glenn Stone and sister, Martha Evans.
