Leon Jan Anderson, 77

Funeral services for Leon Jan Anderson, 77, of Theodosia and Belvidere, Illinois, were held Jan. 23, 2021, at the Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere. Mr. Anderson died unexpectedly on Jan. 18 at his home in Theodosia with his wife Donna at his side.

He was born Jan. 6, 1944 in Bakersfield, the son of John and Joice Anderson. In 1955, his family moved to Illinois, where he met his soulmate, Donna Fields, in 1962; they were married March 28, 1964, in Belvidere.

Mr. Anderson was a loving husband and father. He worked as a plant manager at Metal Improvement for seven years and retired in 2004. The Andersons moved to Theodosia in 2005 and built what they called their “little shack by the lake.” They loved to travel in their motorhome to visit family and friends. Mr. Anderson also enjoyed splitting wood with his friend Kenny, fishing on his pontoon boat, riding his new motor-bicycle and also a Honda motorcycle. Every morning, he texted his sons, “Good morning, son.” He and his wife enjoyed life to the fullest, and it showed. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Theodosia; his two sons, Leon Anderson and wife Rosa of South Beloit, Illinois, and Alan Anderson and wife Amy; brothers Don Anderson and wife Carol, Randy Anderson and wife Deb, and Roger Anderson and wife Roxanne; grandchildren, Lee and wife Brittany, Katie and husband Emir, A.J. and wife Paige, Ana and husband Noah R., Bailie and husband Noah T., and Codey and wife Frances; great-grandchildren Zander and Lilliana; and his nieces and nephews, who knew him as “Uncle Jan.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lyndal; brothers John and Ray Anderson: and two grandsons, Jacob and Luke.
