Judy Smart, 78

Julia “Judy” Louise Smart, 78, of Gainesville, died peacefully at home on Oct. 18, 2023. No services are planned at this time.
She was born Aug. 30, 1945, in Hardenville, to Herbert Hadley Harden and Sadie Mae Latham.
On Aug. 8, 1964, Judy married Gene Clifford Smart. They spent 59 years together until her death. Judy spent many years working at various places: the Tyson factory, MarBax, she owned and operated the laundromat in Gainesville for many years and spent 33 years working at Baxter Lab before her retirement.
Judy enjoyed quilting with her parents, watching westerns, spending time with family and enjoyed the grandkids coming for visits. Judy was a sweet and loving wife, mother and granny. She will be dearly missed by many.
Judy is survived by husband Gene Smart of the family home; son Bobby Smart and wife Rachelle of Gainesville, son Buddy Smart and wife Stacy Baker of Gainesville; grandchildren Maggie Meyers and husband Chance of Omaha, Arkansas, Mollie Smart of Gainesville, Kyle Smart and Jennifer King of Isabella, Dylan Smart of Washington state, Alexandra Smart of Gainesville, DeAnn Smart of Gainesville; great-grandchildren Ellie Meyers, Maddie Meyers, Presley Meyers, Juila Smart, Savannah Smart, Freyja Smart, Aiden Bohannon; a very special sister-in-law Norma Morrison; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Sadie Mae Harden; and siblings George Harden, Don Harden, Pernie Harper and Nellie Gean Whillock.
Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
