Johnalee Crawford Suter, 85

Funeral services for Johnalee Crawford Suter, 85, of Gainesville, were held Jan. 25, 2012, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. Mrs. Suter died Jan. 20 at Gainesville Health Care Center. 

She was born Feb.6, 1935, in Howards Ridge, the daughter of John and Mavel Stutsman Crawford. She took much pride in being raised at her family’s country store, and she loved to reminisce on those simpler times. At age 16, she graduated from Gainesville High School in 1951. She then moved to Kansas City to pursue a career in photo engraving. 

On May 12, 1954, in Yankton, South Dakota, she married Leo Suter. In 1955 they welcomed their firstborn son, Mark Suter, and in 1957, they had their second son, Kent Suter.

Mrs. Suter enjoyed selling real estate here in the Ozarks. For several years she worked side by side with her husband, Leo, in their family-owned trucking business. She was a devoted Christian who enjoyed attending Sunday services at Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church.

She is survived by son Mark Suter and wife Rhonda, and son Kent Suter, all of Gainesville; grandsons Cole Suter and wife Kristy, Shane Suter and wife Sara Jo, all of Theodosia, and Brandon Robbins of Prosper, Texas; great-granddaughter Kursten Suter Hamm and husband Brad, great-grandson John Westley Suter and wife Taylor, and great-granddaughters Lauren, Lakyn and Laney Suter, all of Gainesville, great-grandsons Corbin and Ellis Suter, great-granddaughter Timber Suter, great-grandsons Connor Tumlinson and Lance Day, and Byron Robbins; and great-great-grandsons Colt and Cord Hamm of Gainesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo; grandsons John Suter and Seth Suter; and siblings Chlorine, Thurlo and Bernadene.

Burial was at Howards Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Howards Ridge Cemetery.
