Guy Charles Johnston, 84

Funeral services for Guy Charles Johnston, 84, of Bakersfield were held March 12, 2022, at Pottersville Baptist Church under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.  Burial was at Bakersfield Cemetery.  

Mr. Johnston passed away at 11:50 a.m., Monday, March 7, at his home. 

He was born May 13, 1937, at Hawkins Ridge, to Surl Johnston and Vera Delarm.  

On August 30, 1958, he was married Betty Brown at Viola, Arkansas.  

Mr. Johnston was a carpenter. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved his knives and the St. Louis Cardinals. 

He especially loved his family and enjoyed the family coming to Sunday dinner. 

Mr. Johnston was saved at the age of 75 and was a member of Pottersville Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife Betty of the family home; four children: Sonja McKee and friend Steve Hall of Glenco, Arkansas, Randy Johnston and wife Linda of Bakersfield, Brian Johnston and wife Suzanna of Pottersville and Brandon Johnston and wife Anna of Bakersfield; nine grandchildren: Jeremy McKee and wife Kasey of Caulfield, Kirsten Jarvis and husband Jeremy of Pottersville, Drew McKee and wife Kristen of Caulfield, Chelsea Johnston of Bakersfield, Clayton Johnston and wife Johannah of Pottersville, Adrian Johnston and friend Chris of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Hunter Johnston and friend Lee Etta of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Gracie Johnston and friend Alex of Viola, Arkansas and Arlyn Johnston of Bakersfield; eight great-grandchildren: Tate McKee, Londyn McKee, Bryton Jarvis, Eli Jarvis, Willow McKee, Hallie McKee, Josie McKee and Hadley Johnston; one brother, Freddy Johnston and wife Tina of Bakersfield; and several nieces and nephews. 

His parents, step-father Fred Johnston; one son, Terry Brown; twin grandsons Lance and Colby McKee; and two sisters Vivian Crotts and Bonnie Cunningham, preceded him in death. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO  65775.
