Douglas Dean Bruffett, 78

Funeral services for Douglas Dean Bruffett, 78, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home, Arkansas, with interment to follow at Baxter Memorial Gardens. A visitation service will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, also at the funeral home. 

He died Feb. 9, 2022, at his home in Mountain Home. He was born on Dec. 22, 1943, in Ozark County. After graduating from Gainesville High School, he enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged from active duty in November of 1965. 

He left the rural area of his birth to seek employment and began a career with what was the National Cash Register Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He serviced cash registers and accounting machines in the Tulsa area before moving to Dayton, Ohio, to teach computer hardware and software at their technical training center. 

He retired from what became NCR as a phone support and on-site computer specialist located in San Diego, California.

After retirement, he became interested in writing country songs and poetry. His efforts resulted in the publication of a book of poetry titled “Poetry for the Common (Wo)Man”. He moved to Mountain Home in 2009 to be near his three daughters and their families.  

Douglas was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the American Legion and the Baxter County Poets Association. He attended the First United Methodist Church, the Oakland Church of Christ and First Baptist Church.  

He is survived by one sister, Patsy Pellham of Sparta, and two brothers and sisters-in-law: Wendell and Vickie Bruffett of Chatham, Louisiana, and W. Brent and Kari Bruffett of Shawnee, Kansas. He leaves behind three daughters and sons-in-law: Shelia Bostick of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Anita and Tim Karr also of Mountain Home, and Christie and Steven Berg of Rea Valley, Arkansas. There are six grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and also special friend: Dimple Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ealum E. and V. Juanita Bruffett and one brother: Ronald L. Bruffett.
