Darold Robert Evans, 83

Funeral services for Darold Robert Evans, 83, of Thornfield, were held Dec. 23, 2021, at the Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava with Pastor David Dye officiating. Burial is at Thornfield Cemetery.
Darold died Dec. 20, 2021, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava with his children and family by his side.
Darold was born April 16, 1938, in Toledo, the son of Audie William and Bonnie Francis Haskins Evans.
Darold attended the Tranquility School near Toledo and graduated from eighth grade there. He then attended Gainesville High School. While attending high school, he also drove a school bus, picking up other students for class.
On June 3, 1960, Darold and Betty “Ruthie” Havens were married at Wasola. They had two children, Mark and Margaret.
Darold was a dairy and beef farmer, he operated a bulldozer and was a carpenter. He helped establish the Thornfield Volunteer Fire Department.
Darold and Ruth spent many enjoyable evenings at music parties and local jam sessions. He loved his community and never met a stranger. He enjoyed visiting friends and neighbors at the Thornfield Store, Spurlock’s Store and Donley Feed Mill. He was a Christian and a member of the Thornfield General Baptist Church.
Darold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died Jan. 22, 2021, two brothers, Harold and Gary Evans, and a great grandson, Bryce Evans.
He is survived by his two children and their spouses, Mark and Kelly Evans and Margaret and J.L. Frazier all of Squires; four grandchildren, Sarah (Evans) and Jeremy Watson, Sam and Sarah Evans, Hannah Evans and Rebekah Evans; four great grandchildren, Jack, Easton, Reed and Avery; one brother, Dale Evans; many nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and many friends.
