Danny Richison, 77

Graveside funeral services for Danny Richison, 77, of Mountain Grove, former long-time resident of Gainesville, were held Friday, July 24, 2026, at Sims Cemetery in Gainesville. A celebration of life was held July 25, at  the Seymour Freewill Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Brit Clark, Bryant Clark, Ryan Dockins, Daniel Richison, Hunter Shaver, Hayden Shaver. Honorary Pallbearers were Scott Seagle, Ryan Wallace, Alex Fike, Dobber Dale.

He died suddenly on July 21. He was born on Nov. 19, 1948, in Gainesville, son of Ed and Nellie Chisam, and Carl and Midge Richison.

Danny was a graduate of Gainesville High School’s class of 1967. He was employed with Rock Island Railroad for 10 years and later became a familiar face at Town & Country grocery store in Gainesville. However, it was his passion for horses that defined much of his life. Danny was a cowboy through and through, training and breaking countless horses, as well as serving as mentor at youth rodeos. His skills as a horseman, jockey, trail guide at Rockbridge and the occasional appearance as a rodeo clown were widely admired and brought joy to many. His love for country and western dancing was infectious.

Danny was a man of faith, and an active member of both the Seymour Free Will Baptist Church and the Cold Creek Cowboy Church in Ava. His legacy is one of love, laughter and an unwavering spirit. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten, as he rides on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Danny is survived by his children: Patti (Scott) Seagle, Shawn (Shannon) Richison, Erin Richison, and Kristian (Ryan) Wallace. He was the proud grandfather of 10 adoring grandchildren: Britton Clark, Bryant Clark, Ella Clark, Daniel (Shae) Richison, Ryan Dockins, Olivia (Alex) Fike, Ali (Dobber) Dale, Hunter Shaver, Hayden Shaver, and Marilyn Wallace; one precious great-granddaughter Braylen Fike and awaiting the arrival of Carter Fike. Danny also leaves behind his brother Dale (Gretchen) Richison and sister Juanita (Mike) Smith; five nieces; and a host of cousins and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Carl Richision Jr; and grandson Rex Wallace.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made in Danny’s memory to Cold Creek Cowboy Church - youth rodeo (P.O. Box 1357, Ava, MO 65608) or Sims Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
