Carol E. McClendon, 86

Carol E. McClendon, 86, of Gainesville, died Dec. 28, 2023, at the Gainesville Healthcare Center. No local services are planned at this time. 

She was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jacob and Bertha (Fredericksen) Gordon.

Carol grew up in Geneva, Illinois, and graduated from Geneva High School. 

On Feb. 1, 1957, she married Walter McClendon. After working and raising their family in Illinois, the couple moved to Gainesville in 1998 to enjoy their retirement years. 

Carol enjoyed painting, working in the yard and tending to her flowers. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons: Patrick McClendon of Gainesville and Michael McClendon and wife Tracy of Crane; two grandchildren: Jacob McClendon and Aaron McClendon; three great-grandchildren: Noah, Addi and Mason; one sister, Gayle Johnson of Cobden, Illinois, and one brother Gary Gordon and wife Vickie of Mt Dora, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter McClendon, and her parents, Jacob and Bertha Gordon. 

Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
