Brad Lee Hayes, 58

Brad Lee Hayes, 58, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, died on Nov. 15, 2025. He was born on Oct. 17, 1967, in Belvidere to James Woodrow Hayes and Carolyn Louise (Butram) Hayes.
Brad graduated from North Boone High School in 1985 and married the love of his life, Jill, on Sept. 2, 1989. A master carpenter and proud member of the Carpenter’s Local 792, Brad was known for his brilliant mind and ability to think outside the box. His craftsmanship, creativity and strong work ethic were admired by many. Even after developing a disability, Brad continued to work with determination and pride.
A die-hard Chevy man, Brad loved old cars, woodworking, crafting and anything that let him work with his hands. He was an avid football fanatic, especially devoted to the New Orleans Saints.
Brad had a personality that filled every room—intelligent, witty, a jokester and a self-proclaimed smartass with a heart of gold. He was loving, loyal, trustworthy and known for his heart of service. If he cared about you, he would do anything for you. He was an amazing dad and uncle, and was often described as “the last of the good ones.” Brad was also a second dad to many children, always ready to play, teach, and make them laugh.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty and laughter that will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.
