Dorothy E. Strong, 81

 

A celebration of life service for Dorothy E. Strong, 81, formerly of Ozark County, was held Feb. 8, 2024, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. 

She died Feb. 4, in Tulsa. She was born on March 15, 1942, in Gainesville, to the late David Neely and Edith Rhamy Neely.

Dorothy was known for her fierce independence and dedication. Throughout her life, she displayed a remarkable work ethic, often utilizing her hands for various projects.

Dorothy's career spanned over 30 years where she served as a supervisor, specializing in airplane maintenance.

Described as a "spitfire," Dorothy was renowned for her candid nature, always speaking her mind without hesitation. Despite her straightforward approach, she held a deep love for her family and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She was also known for her outgoing and fun-loving personality and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Dorothy will be fondly remembered for her unwavering strength, generous spirit and vibrant presence in the lives of those who knew her. Her legacy of hard work, honesty and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace.

She is survived by her son Rickey and Cathy Strong, daughter Vickie and David Jackson, son Mickey Strong,  and son, Dickey and Kimberly Strong,

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Terra Schwerin, Leslie Fredericks and husband Cory, Ryan Cole and wife Jenny, Shawna Mercatoris and husband Ryan, Dustin Strong and wife Santana, Derick Strong and wife Carol, Haley Pfarr and husband Kelby, Tyler Strong, Matthew Strong, Amy Gray and husband Michael, Brandon Alexander and wife Mindi, Misty Alexander and husband Phillip, Andrew Alexander, Chasity Alexander and husband Scott and Timmy Alexander; numerous great-grandchildren; her brother, Eldon Neely and wife Cathy; sister Helen “Dean” Still; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Everett Neely; sisters Eileen Walrath and Darlene Engels; brother Donald Neely; an infant sister; and son-in-law Vance Alexander.
