Manhunt suspect was arrested Oct. 19 by Howell County SWAT but didn’t go willingly

The Howell County SWAT Team used a “tactical vehicle intervention” to block Bartlett’s vehicle from leaving the highway in order to keep him from fleeing from officers as he has done several times in the past.

After more than a week of evading police efforts in multiple counties including Ozark County, Adam Bartlett Jr. was arrested Oct. 19 by the Howell County SWAT Team.

According to information from the Howell County Sheriff’s Department,  it was around 11 p.m. Oct. 19, when deputies in that area received information about where Barlett was hiding out. The Howell County SWAT Team was activated and responded to the location.

Upon arrival, Bartlett began to flee the scene in a stolen vehicle. Due to Bartlett’s extensive history of resisting by fleeing from law enforcement in a vehicle and creating a substantial risk to the public, a “tactical vehicle intervention” was executed by the SWAT team blocking the vehicle, according to HCSD. The move disabled the vehicle and prevented further flight of the wanted subject. Bartlett was taken into custody and transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center where he is being held on active felony warrants. He is currently held without bond.

“The Howell County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Missouri State Highway Patrol, West Plains Police Department, and South Howell County Ambulance for their assistance with this operation,” a Facebook post about the event says.
