Ronnie “Ron” J. Sullivan, 69

Funeral services for Ronnie “Ron” J. Sullivan, 69, formerly of Gainesville and a resident of Magnolia, Texas, at the time of his death, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until servicetime. Burial will be at Center Point Cemetery following services.

Ron died peacefully in his home on April 18.

He was born Jan. 14, 1954, in Gainesville to Bobbie and Darlene Sullivan.

By trade Ron was a master of reinforcing rebar, a job colloquially known as a “rodbuster.” His work took him to many states over the years, but he eventually settled down in Texas in 1990 where he started his own business, Ron’s Rebar.

In 2007, Ron married the love of his life, Rita Sullivan, and they were happily married for 16 wonderful years. Shortly after marrying Rita, Ron transitioned happily into retirement. He enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting, carpentry, playing spades, cooking BBQ and watching the occasional episode of “Gunsmoke.” Anyone who knew Ron would describe him as hardworking, strong minded, kind and a great father.

Family was everything to Ron. He spent the last few years enjoying being with his children and grandchildren sitting for hours talking and enjoying time spent. One of his proudest roles in life was being a grandfather.

Strong in his faith and an avid student of the Word, Ron’s loved ones know he is right with God. They say they are looking forward to seeing him again in heaven.

He is survived by his mother Darlene Sullivan, wife Rita Sullivan; children: Misty Sullivan, Ronnie Sullivan, Jason Sullivan, April Sullivan, Ashley Freilich, Tyler Sullivan, Summer Sullivan and Autumn Casares; siblings: Charlotte, Brenda, Lisa, Rocky and Darla.

He was proceeded in death by his father Bobbie Sullivan.

Arrangements are by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
