Charles Eugene Pond, 89
Funeral services for Charles Eugene Pond, 89, of Ava, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Dale Roberts officiating. Mr. Pond died Oct. 3 at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour.
He was born March 27, 1932, in Poynor, Missouri, the son of Edley and Velvia Price Pond. He was a veteran who proudly served his country from 1955 to 1957. He worked for many years as a machinist for Sunstrand, a tool and die manufacturer in Rockford, Illinois. After his retirement, he moved to Ozark County near Bull Shoals Lake. He was a hard worker, and he loved music.
He is survived by his wife, Retha Joan Pellham Pond of Ava; one son, Ronald Pond of Seymour; stepdaughter Robin Wilson and special friend Jim of Theodosia; four brothers, Carlos Pond, Gerald Pond and wife Karen, Lyndle Pond and wife Joyce, all of Illinois, and Jim Pond and wife Valerie of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Nancy Pond; one son, Michael Dale Pond; his brother, Bobby Pond; and his sisters Peggy Halberstadt, Clydia McCina and Carolee Nicholas.
Burial in Lutie Cemetery with full military honors will follow the funeral service.
