Harold J. ‘Tex’ Dotson, 87

Funeral services for Harold J. “Tex” Dotson, 87, of Gainesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Jeff Dotson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Dotson died March 18 at Gainesville Health Care Center. 

He was born Aug. 8, 1933, in Bald Knob, Arkansas, the son of Clyde Lyman and Perolar Belle Baxter Dotson. In 1952 in West Plains, he married Bonita Jean Thompson.

He was an ironworker with Local #112 in Peoria, Illinois, and had also been a well-known car dealer since 1955. He owned T&R Motors, Tecumseh Motors and Dotson Auto Sales in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was a character whose humor and antics will always be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his three children, Angela Joy Dotson of West Plains, Jeffery Allen Dotson of Gainesville and Daniel Edward Dotson of Mountain Home; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many friends and acquaintances.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Adeline Burge and her husband Dick; and one grandson, Travis Roy Williams.

Burial will be in the Homeland Cemetery in West Plains.
