Pay taxes easily online at www.ozarkcountycollector.com: Ozark County Collector has mailed tax statements, due back before Friday, Dec. 31

The Ozark County Collector’s website, www.ozarkcountycollector.com, allows tax payers to complete online payments with an e-check option, which uses checking account and bank routing number, or with debit or credit cards.

Ozark County Collector Darla Sullivan says the county’s annual tax statements have been mailed to most area residents, with the exception of a few statements that are being held back pending the transfer of ownership of property. The delay is due to an unusually high volume of real estate sales that occurred in the county from September through early October this year, Sullivan said.

The deadline to pay 2021 taxes without penalty is Friday, Dec. 31. Mailed payments that are postmarked by Dec. 31 are also accepted. All changes or discrepancies in tax bills must be made through the assessor’s office by Dec. 30, Sullivan said.

Echeck payments online are quick and easy

The collector’s website, www.ozarkcountycollector.com, is a quick and efficient way to pay taxes at the residents’ convenience, she said. Payments can be made there by electronic check or with a credit or debit card.

The most economical way to pay through the website is to use the echeck feature, which incurs a $1.75 charge. To use an echeck, residents input their checking account number and bank routing number, which are printed at the bottom of any personal checks.

The fee for using Visa Debit (only) is $3.95, while the fee for all other credit and debit cards is 2.4 percent of the total tax due, with a minimum $1.50.

Haven’t received your tax statement yet?

Sullivan says if residents have not received their tax statement yet, it could be due to a wrong address, which results in the statements being returned to the collector’s office, or to the non-assessment of personal property.

Tax office is open Dec. 31,  access from basement

Sullivan says residents should be aware that New Year’s Day, a state-recognized holiday, falls on a Saturday this year, meaning that offices in the Ozark County Courthouse will be closed Friday, Dec. 31, in observance of the holiday; however, the collector’s office will remain open that day with regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..

The courthouse’s basement door, accessed off the southeast side of the square, will be unlocked and available for use by residents who have business at the collector’s office. The courthouse’s main doors, accessed at the top of the steps or ramp on the east and west sides of the building, will be locked.
