OCHD offers first dose of covid-19 vaccine on Thursday, June 3

The Ozark County Health Department will be giving first doses of the covid-19 vaccination from 8 a.m. until noon Thursday, June 3, at the OCHD office on Third Street in Gainesville. Everyone age 18 and older is now eligible for the vaccination, according to the state’s phased covid-19 vaccination-delivery program.

OCHD nurse Brenda Hambelton said “it would help” if those interested in getting the vaccination call the office to make an appointment for the June 3 clinic; however, walk-ins will also be accepted, she said. To schedule an appointment, call OCHD at 417-679-3334.

The health department will be giving second doses of the vaccine on Friday, May 14, and Friday, May 21, to those who have scheduled the second dose after previously receiving the first dose.

So far, 2,057 doses of the vaccine have been administered here, including both first and second doses, and including not only Ozark County residents but also Missourians who came here for the vaccine from as far away as Kansas City, St. Louis and Springfield, Hambelton said.

A total of 663 cases of the covid-19 virus have been reported in Ozark County; 22 Ozark Countians with the virus have died, according to OCHD statistics.
