Lions Club Auction is Friday night

This football signed by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the many items up for auction during the annual Gainesville Lions Club auction. Proceeds from the event are used for the summer ball program in Gainesville, as well as Lions Club scholarships and projects.

The annual Gainesville Lions Club Auction will be held at 7 p.m. this Friday, April 22, at Gainesville High School.

A dinner featuring chili and cinnamon rolls will be served at 6 p.m. The cost is $1, which also enters the attendee into several drawings throughout the evening.

This year’s sportsman’s raffle, held in conjunction with the live and silent auction, includes a trailer, 15 firearms, a kayak, trailer and other items. Only 300 tickets will be sold.

Multiple winners’ names will be drawn throughout the live-auction event with each winner getting to select from the remaining items. Those who are not present can still claim a prize, but they receive a designated item from those available instead of getting to choose their own from the items remaining. Raffle tickets are $50 each and may be purchased at any Century Bank of the Ozarks location or from Gainesville Lions Club members.

There will also be two other playing card gun raffles held with proceeds benefitting the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department and the Klineline Scholarship.

The live auction has a new twist this year with newspaper columnist Jerry Crownover taking over auctioneer duties. The auction includes a Kansas City Chiefs football signed by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, home entertainment items, lawn and garden implements, power tools, clothing, pontoon boat trips, gift cards, baked goods, dining and shopping certificates, advertising and many other items and services donated by area businesses and individuals.

Proceeds from the auction and raffle will benefit the summer ball program operated by Gainesville Schools, as well as Lions Club scholarships and projects.
