Virtual story time for Bakersfield Elementary students

Bakersfield preschool teacher Jody Bonds, above, and Lisa Bean, Bakersfield kindergarten teacher, below, are two of the many Bakersfield educators who have posted virtual storybook sessions on the “Bakersfield Elementary Story Time” Facebook page.
Bakersfield Superintendent Dr. Amy Britt also joined in on the fun, posting a video of her reading her favorite book, “The house in the hole in the side of the tree” by Gilbert Beers. In the video, Britt explained that her parents purchased the book when she was just a child from a traveling book salesman who came to the family’s door to sell them books.
The Bakersfield Elementary Story Time Facebook page is filled with Bakersfield teachers and other school employees reading stories to students through video. The group was created about a month ago as a way for Bakersfield students to find videos from all their teachers in one place. The educators featured here join Lutie preschool teacher Tim Lewis and Ozark County Cpl. Curtis Dobbs, who were featured in their own video storybook sessions in last week’s Times.
