Bakersfield High School announces 2020 scholarship and award recipients
Bakersfield High School’s graduating seniors were awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships and other awards during the school’s 2020 graduation events. BHS counselor Trudy Summers announced that the following seniors earned these scholarships:
Brandy Belt: Class of 1962 $500, Jake Lashley $500 Memorial, MFA Foundation $2,000.
Colter Bean: L J Tackitt “Pay It Forward” $250 Memorial
Brady Jones: American Red Cross $500 Blood Drive, Bakersfield Booster Club $500, Cory Parish $500 Memorial, Jake Lashley $500 Memorial, Sawyer Divelbiss $500 Memorial
CJ Schirlinger: Brenda Amyx $250 Memorial
Shelby Summers: Bakersfield Faculty & Staff $500, Cory Parish $500 Memorial, Jake Lashley $500 Memorial, Karen Slavings “Heart of a Servant” $500 Memorial, Rob Laxton $500 Memorial
Heavan Tiller: Bakersfield Booster Club $500, Bob and Esther Kingsolver $500 Memorial, Brenda Owen Riley “Future Educator” $1,000, College of the Ozarks four-year $78,000, Jake Lashley $500 Memorial

Andrea Yount: Bakersfield Honor Society $500, JakeLashley $500 Memorial, Southwest Baptist University $28,985/year
These students met the criteria to receive the Missouri A+ Scholarship, a grant for tuition paid for two years at participating colleges or technical institutions in Missouri: Shannen Adams, Brandy Belt, Dessirae Evans, Brady Ingalsbe, Brady Jones, Cole Summers, Shelby Summers, Heavan Tiller and Andrea Yount.
These students completed a two-year certification program at South Central Career Center in West Plains and have the opportunity to receive 24 credit-hour scholarships through Missouri State University-West Plains, valued at $3,120.
