Bird the Blue Jay checks the mail

Checking out the mail bin

Our ongoing coverage of Gainesville’s Bird the Blue Jay continues. Last week, when Century Bank of the Ozarks employee Michele Johnson drove to the post office, Bird fluttered into Michele’s car and wouldn’t leave. He insisted on riding along, perching on the steering wheel (above) for part of the trip back to the bank before hopping over to check out the bank’s mail in the transport bin. See the Sept. 18 edition of the Times for Bird’s story (“Friendly little blue jay becomes the town’s pet”) and the Sept. 25 edition for photos of Bird watching Hootin an Hollarin activities.
