The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs opened their 2025 basketball campaign in dominant fashion Friday night, Nov. 21, powering past the Koshkonong Lady Jays 76–50 on the road. Gainesville set the tone early, surging to a 44–18 halftime lead and never looking back.
This season marks the debut of new head coach Nathan Houk, who takes over the Gainesville girls program after previously leading both the boys (three years) and girls (seven years) teams at Ava. Houk said he liked what he saw from his squad in their first outing.
“We played a great first half, holding them to 18 points. All in all I was pleased with our effort,” Houk said. “All 11 players got in the game and contributed valuable minutes. I felt we could have defended and rebounded better in the second half.”
Senior guard Addie Alms sparked the Lady Bulldogs, leading all scorers with 26 points, along with 5 rebounds and a steal.
Macy Hambelton added 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals, while Sadie Walker turned in a standout all-around performance with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists, and 2 steals.
Emma Donley provided strength inside, scoring 9 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and dishing out 3 assists.
Mylie Frye contributed 6 points, a rebound, and an assist, and Baylor Hewett tallied 4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.
Cami Strain rounded out Gainesville’s scoring with 2 points.
With a convincing first win and a new coach at the helm, the Lady Bulldogs look to carry their momentum into the rest of the season.
