The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs closed out the regular season in commanding fashion Thursday night, traveling to Conway and defeating the Lady Bears 46-19. The girls continued their winning streak Monday when they beat Mansfield 43-35 in the first round of the Class 2 District 10 tournament.

Gainesville set the tone early on Thursday with defensive pressure and balanced scoring against Conway, building a comfortable lead and never looking back.

Freshman guard Macy Hambelton paced the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points and controlled the boards on the defensive end, pulling down 10 rebounds. Mylie Frye and Addie Alms each added 10 points in a strong offensive showing, while Sadie Walker chipped in eight.

Baylor Hewett finished with four points and Emma Donley added three to round out the scoring.

Alms also made her presence felt on the glass, collecting seven rebounds. Walker, Donley and Hewett shared play-making duties, recording three assists apiece as Gainesville moved the ball effectively throughout the contest.

The victories lift Gainesville’s varsity record to 20-6.

After their win over Mansfield, the Lady Bulldogs go on to play Hartville, who narrowly beat the Dora Lady Falcons 37-34.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 25.
