JH BASKETBALL: GJHS boys and girls teams add wins to season records

The Gainesville Junior High boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Fordland Thursday, Sept. 12 where they won all four games. The boys teams are coached by Morris Jenkins and the girls are coached by Lance West.

Gainesville’s boys A team defeated Fordland 61-2. Keaton Hand led the scoring with 15 points, followed by Parker Gilmore with 12 and Corbin West with 10. Other players scoring were Hoyt Crouse 8, Luke Hogan and Carson Nielson with 6 each and Brantley Nash and Landon Treat with 2 each.

The boys B team won 36-17, led by Luke Hogan with 12 and Jake Hogan with 9. Other players scoring were Kyle Winrod with 8, Parker Gilmore with 4, and Carson Nielson with 2.

The girls A team won 46-8. Sadie Walker led with 18 points followed by Macy Hambelton with 8, Regan Blackburn and Violet Winrod with 6 each, Lola Wade with 4, and Payton Eslinger and Makelby Myers with 2 each.

The girls B team beat the Eagles 16-12. Allie Cooley led the scoring with 9 points, followed by Makelby Myers with 5 and Allie Possehl with 2.

On Friday, Sept. 13 the Gainesville teams traveled to Dora to take on the Falcons, and all four teams came home with victories.

The Gainesville boys A team won 46-11, led by Corbin West with 14 and Parker Gilmore with 10. Others scoring were Keaton Hand 8, Hoyt Crouse 7, Carson Nielson 4, Luke Hogan 2, and Brantley Nash 1.

The boys B team won 18-12 in two quarters. Luke Hogan scored 8, Jake Hogan scored 7, and Brantley Nash added 3.

The Gainesville girls A team won 25-19, led by Macy Hambelton with 8. Others scoring were Sadie Walker and Lola Wade with 5, Regan Blackburn 4, and Violet Winrod with 3.

Makelby Myers led with scoring for the B team in their 18-4 victory. Allie Cooley added 6 and Crystal Johnson scored 2.

Gainesville hosted Sparta Tuesday, Sept. 17. Results of those games were unavailable at press time. 

Monday, Sept. 23, the junior Bulldogs are hosting the Seymour Tigers.
