GHS Lady Bulldogs volleyball team brought record to 18-9-2 last week

The Gainesville High School Lady Bulldogs volleyball team had a busy week last week, with Tuesday’s home-court loss to Houston, Thursday’s road win over Dora and a full day on Saturday at the Mansfield Lady Lions Invitational Tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs fought hard in front of a home-court crowd but lost 1-3, when they took on Houston Oct. 7. Scores for the sets were 25-27, 17-25, 25-19 and 20-25. Addie Alms led with 20 kills, followed by Macy Hambelton with 7. Baylor Hewett had 34 assists; Lilly Hejdak had 15 digs. Twyla Parkison and Baylor Hewett had 3 service aces each. Gainesville’s junior varsity won their match 25-20 and 25-15.

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Dora on Thursday, Oct. 9 and won 3-1 with set scores as follows: 23-25, 25-15, 25-17 and 25-22.

Avery Gaulding had 10 kills, followed by Addie Alms and Macy Hambelton with 8 each.

Gainesville and Dora’s junior varsity split sets, 25-21 and 18-25.

The Lady Bulldog traveled to Mansfield Saturday, Oct. 11 and took third place in the pool play tournament. 

The Gainesville girls defeated Koshkonong and Plato, then lost to Fordland. In bracket play the Bulldogs lost to Blue Eye, then beat Seymour for third place,

Gainesville took the third seed in the upcoming Class 2 District 9 tournament and will play Sparta (number six seed) in Cabool at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
