GHS academic team kick off season with ‘scramble’

The Gainesville High School Academic Team participated in the first-ever Summit Conference Jamboree on last Friday, Oct. 6.
With 17 students, GHS had the largest group of participants. There were 57 students total from six conference schools at the event.
The conference jamboree was a “scramble” format in which teams were created by randomly choosing students from different schools to be on teams.
“It was a low-key but fun way to meet students from the other schools and also get our brains ready for our competitive season, which starts later this month,” said Karen Jeziorski, GHS academic team co-coach.
The first place team included GHS students Ezekiel Yarger and Liam Jones from Gainesville. GHS student Tate Uchtman captained the second place team, and another GHS student, Eddie White, was on the third place team.
