Gainesville team competes at Hollister track meet
On Thursday, March 27, the Gainesville track and field teams competed in the Tiger Invite hosted by Hollister High School. Ten schools from Classes 2 and 3 were in attendance. Each event allowed a maximum of three participants from each school. The top eight finishers in each event received team points, with the top three earning medals.
The Bulldogs boys and girls teams started the season with several top-eight performances and brought home a combined 16 medals.
Gainesville High School Track and Field has more than 40 athletes participating in track and field this season. This is a huge number for a program that has consistently grown over the past several seasons.
“The athletes who received team points and medals generally get the spotlight, deservingly based on great performances,” said GHS Coach Gary Emerick. “Still, we do not want to overlook the contribution and dedication of those outside the top eight. They are an integral and important part of the success and continue to put in the hard work necessary to, hopefully, find themselves in the team points as the season continues.”
