The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs fought hard for the last two wins they’ve added to their schedule. Wins over Couch and Dora bring their season record to 11-3.
Saturday, Jan. 10, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Mountain View for the Liberty Legends Shootout where they beat Couch.
“It was a defensive battle between both teams,” said GHS Coach Nathan Houk. “We were finally able to extend our lead to double digits in the fourth quarter and came away with a 49-36 win.”
Macy Hambelton led the scoring with 14 points, followed by Addie Alms with 12, Baylor Hewett with 9, Sadie Walker with 7, Emma Donley with 5 and Mylie Frye with 2.
On Monday, Gainesville traveled to Dora where they took on the Lady Falcons in a back and forth battle that ended when Addie Alms sank two free throws to seal a 48-47 win.
“We played well in the first half, going to half time with a 12-point lead,” Houk said. “We defended well and rebounded well. Dora hit several perimeter shots in the third quarter and we struggled on offense. They took the lead late in the game but our entire team showed a lot of grit and stuck together. Addie Alms hit two free throws with 6 seconds left to give us a 48-47 win.”
The Lady Bulldogs head to Bakersfield Thursday, Jan. 15 to take on the Lady Lions team at 7 p.m.
