Strong pitching and timely hitting lifted the Gainesville Bulldogs to a 5-0 shutout victory over Mansfield on Thursday, April 30, at home.
Offense was at a premium for much of the evening, but Gainesville made the most of its opportunities. Dawson Hewett finished 1-for-3 at the plate, driving in a run and scoring once, while Cutter Morrison added a 1-for-2 performance.
The Bulldogs struck early, with Aden Gaulding bringing home a run in the first inning to set the tone. Gainesville added insurance later behind Keegan Crouse, who helped his own cause at the plate by going 1-for-3 with a double and a game-high three RBIs.
Crouse’s biggest impact, however, came on the mound. The right-hander delivered a dominant complete-game performance, tossing all seven innings while allowing just two hits and no runs. He walked two and struck out seven, keeping Mansfield off balance throughout the contest.
With the win, Gainesville brings their season record to 18-3 as they enter the final stretch of the season.
