VOLLEYBALL: Dora racks up two wins and a loss last week

The Dora Lady Falcons volleyball season had a roller coaster of a week, chalking up two wins and a tough loss.

“This week proved to be one full of highs and lows. We had strong outings against Kosh and Bradleyville. We came out firing on all cylinders against a tough Eminence team, winning the first set, but couldn’t hold on for the full game,” said Dora Head Coach Brandi Montgomery.

Dora traveled to Eminence Monday, Sept. 8, where varsity lost the match, winning one of three sets (27-25, 12-25, 16-25, 18-25).

Dora’s JV brought home a win in two sets (27-25, 25-18).

Tuesday, the Lady Falcons hosted Koshkonong and beat them in three sets to take the match (25-17, 25-7, 25-13). Leading the way was Brnlee Walker with eight aces, Montgomery Mitchell with 11 kills and Loghan Bruce with 13 assists.

The junior varsity also won their match, defeating Kosh in  two sets (25-12, 25-12).

The Lady Falcons traveled to Bradleyville Thursday, Sept. 11, and both the varsity and junior varsity brought home wins for Dora.

The varsity took their match, winning three of four sets (25-4, 25-14, 25-27, 26-24).

The junior varsity won their match in two sets (25-10, 25-5). Dora’s varsity record currently stands at 6-7-1 and the JV is 6-1.

“Our team is currently dealing with injuries, which means I have had to rely heavily on our underclassmen to step into those crucial roles,” Montgomery said. “They have done so extremely well. We are in a stage of transition, and I am proud of the girls for fighting through, overcoming adversity and showing grit.”

Dora had road games at Fordland on Monday, Sept. 15, and at Seymour on Tuesday, Sept. 16. Results of those matches were unavailable at presstime.
