The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs hosted the Dora Lady Falcons Monday, Jan. 13. The Lady Falcons took home a 37-32 win.
“We knew we would have to play well defensively this game, but on a night where we weren’t shooting the ball well, we needed it even more and the girls really stepped up,” said Dora Coach Cole Garnette. “I have been preaching mental toughness all season to the girls and it shined through tonight, from big shots in crucial moments, getting defensive stops when we needed it, making free throws late in the game, and every one of the girls staying positive and keeping each other focused on the next play.”
Gainesville’s Addie Alms led all scoring for the game, sinking 15 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Others scoring for Gainesville were Mylie Frye 7, Laney Suter 6 and Kelsie Hogan 4.
Dora’s Kinley Luna scored 14 points and racked up 7 steals for the Lady Falcons. Montgomery Mitchell was also in the double digits with 12 points and led in rebounds with 13. Brainy Hambelton added 7 and Ellie Ellon and Kynslee Vandiver chipped in 2 each for the Dora team.
