Woman pleads guilty to bringing drugs, paraphernalia to jail property

Kimberly Morris
Appearing via Webex from the Missouri Department of Corrections, Kimberly J. Morris pleaded guilty on Dec. 4 to the charge of possession. The charge of unlawful possession of paraphernalia was dismissed.
Morris was sentenced to 5 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections to run concurrent with all other sentences and ordered to attend a long-term substance abuse program.
According to a previously filed probable cause statement prepared by Ozark County Deputy Josh Sherman, he noticed a maroon vehicle pulling into the parking lot of the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office on July 28, 2023. Recognizing both occupants from previous encounters, Sherman knew the driver, William Chamberlain, did not have a valid driver’s license and Sherman executed a vehicle stop on the pair.
Chamberlain was then arrested for driving without a license and he consented to a search of the vehicle, according to the statement. A Facebook post explained that K9 Karo alerted his handler, Sherman, to controlled substances inside the vehicle.
The search of the vehicle led to finding a zipper bag in the center console that contained a glass smoking pipe with a white crystal-like substance. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Morris, who was on probation at the time, was also arrested and reportedly admitted that she would test positive for drugs if she provided a urine sample. Chamberlain also admitted to using meth.
